Hubby's Sacrifice

Cool Dude has had a fever for 5 days. (Also, Princess had a fever for 3 of those days). The 3 of us were stuck inside for 4 straight days except for the time we left to go to the doctor's. Today, CD was supposed to go to his annual Scout Blue and Gold banquet. This is a very nice, big deal recognizing all of the scouts for their year. Considering he only has next year for his last year of cub scouts, it was a real bummer for him to miss this. Hubby has been CD's den leader for 4 years now. For the banquet, Hubby was responsible for bringing a 5 gallon jug of lemonade, our den was supposed to put on a skit, and usually the den leader calls each boys name, they walk onto the stage and the den leader shakes their hands and gives them some rewards. Not only that, but den leaders get recognized at blue and gold, as well. Although Hubby wanted to be at the banquet because he felt a strong obligation to be there to fulfill all of his responsibilities, he willingly gave it all up to be with his sick son. I was so proud of him for doing this!

It was a big deal because I think we all have had a time when we've felt a strong duty to our work, and not letting people down, relying on another family person to take care of home and family responsibilities, so you can take care of your work--probably a stronger sense for men. Since we needed to get out of this house, after we dropped off the lemonade at the banquet, we all went to our favorite yogurt shop for a special treat, and had a good time as a family!
