My Kids Were Baptized!!

This past Sunday, May 1st, both Cool Dude and Princess were baptized. Talk about a mom's heart being full and feeling like it could explode! This is exciting!

We have never rushed our kids into doing anything spiritually. They both have been in great churches and church programs, and when they were both 4, they accepted Jesus into their hearts--both with mega understanding through the help of the Awana program. Four must have just been the magical number for our kids for this event.

We have attended our current church, Evangel Assembly of God, for 3 1/2 years now and we have the greatest children's pastor ever! She has a dedicated team working with her, they play music videos and current worship songs during their Sunday church time, and they have transformed their church room into so many incredible sets based on their teaching themes that it's like they are professional theater set decorators. They pray and have alter calls during kids church, teach the Bible through skits with costumes, play games, have puppets, and have a team that runs computers to adjust music and lights. All of this combined has touched the lives of our kids so much and they truly do understand so much about God, Jesus, etc., that we knew they were ready to be baptized if they wanted to, but it was their decision. We wanted them to have the "heart knowledge" about all of this and not just the "head knowledge", and they did.

Cool Dude was originally going to be baptized last September, but he was the only one wanting to do it, and the church would have done it if we wanted to go ahead with it, but CD was fine with waiting until this May when hopefully more people would be doing it also. Princess has been spiritually ready, but last September, she wouldn't even dunk her head under water, so that is what was stopping her. This year, no problem.

There were 17 people I think who were baptized on Sunday. I believe there was one adult, and the rest were kids and youth. It was done after service at one of our church members home who have a heated pool and heated bath house with two rooms for changing. Here's the thing though--the weather was only in the high 40s. Bbbrrrrr!! How weird for KS at this time of year. The plan was to go ahead with it unless it started raining. Well, the rain was spitting off and on, even on the drive to the house, but once everyone was there, no sprinkling. My kids didn't care about the weather. They were still dedicated to doing it anyways--another sign that Roger and I knew they were serious about this because they weren't letting the cold weather stop them. Also, they weren't shy to get up in front of all of the people who would be staring at them, and they were the first two to be baptized! Way to go Evan and Lauren!
