Power

Read this a few days ago and it is still on my mind this morning, so I wanted to share it with all of you:
1 Corinthians 4:20 says:

God's Way is not a matter of mere talk; it's an empowered life.(The Message)

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. (New International Version)

For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.(New American Standard Bible)

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. (New Living Translation)

God's kingdom isn't just a lot of words. It is power. (Contemporary English Version)

The word "power" in this verse comes from the Greek word "dunamis" and here's the definition:
strength power, ability

1. inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth
2. power for performing miracles
3. moral power and excellence of soul
4. the power and influence which belong to riches and wealth
5. power and resources arising from numbers
6. power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts

We get our word for "dynamite" from this Greek word. How's that for an example of how explosive this meaning it (yes, pun intended)! Are you just claiming you are a Christian, but your life doesn't show any power that you are? God is powerful and wants your life to be powerful. You are part of His kingdom so show it with the energy you put forth in your thoughts, actions, words so that other people see this power in you and want it too. This is not a condescending power, this is power that lovingly directs people to God.
